In an open letter to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, Mozilla Platform Engineer Luobusaier (Rob Sayre) asked Microsoft to give access and allow Firefox on their new Windows Phone 7 Series platform.
In the letter, Mozilla compares Android with WP7S and asks Microsoft to take a cue from Android’s NDK API. Since Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 Series does not offer any native development package scheme yet, Mozilla Foundation is unable to develop Windows Phone 7 Series version of Firefox browser.
With the use of native development kit i.e. a NDK, developers can build applications that are compatible with the WP7 series.
